Library Internet Services

Our mission

To be a cultural hub for the community through access to collections, spaces, and experiences.

Port Macquarie-Hastings Libraries are committed to the provision of information resources for the people of the Hastings. The internet allows the library to provide access to resources previously inaccessible to our clients. This policy covers use of library internet and computer services.

Collection development policy

This policy defines the scope and nature of the existing collection for Council and for the public.  It assists planning for the continuing development of the Library service.

This policy complies with the State Library Guidelines. 

Library Photographic Collection Takedown Policy

This policy outlines the library’s position on requests to remove material from our website/catalogue

Meeting Room Conditions of Use

The Meeting Rooms  are primarily for hire by community groups and organizations within the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council local government area.

Study rooms

The Port Macquarie library provides 8 smaller study rooms behind the computer access area for individual use.

Exhibitions in Library

Port Macquarie-Hastings Library encourages exhibitions by local community and not-for-profit organizations. Exhibitions must meet the Library’s objectives of being an unbiased source of recorded knowledge and ideas.

Home Library Service

Home Library Service is available to those borrowers unable to access the Library and who have no other means of doing so (via family, friends or carers).

Notice boards

Notice boards are provided at all locations for the use and benefit of the community. They are considered an important contribution to the information service provided by libraries.

Overdues policy

Borrowing any items from the library is subject to the Library Overdues Policy.

Responsibilities of Use

The Library is a free service of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council. The privileges and responsibilities of membership ensure the best possible use will be made of your Library collection.

Children in the Library

Library personnel are not responsible for unsupervised or unattended children. Please see our policy regarding Children in the Library for more information.

Weeding and Discard Policy

Library materials will be removed from the collection in accordance with the Collection Development Policy.
