
Each of our libraries has an outdoor play space for younger children with different equipment to entertain and stimulate. These spaces are available whenever the libraries are open.
Port Macquarie Library has a play area in the Storytime courtyard, included in the colourful equipment are fun reading spaces, a blackboard and a small garden. Port Macquarie Library holds a number of activities suitable for young children such as Storytime, which is held twice a week during school term for 2-5 year olds, and Baby Bounce, which is run weekly for newborns to 12 month old babies. These programs are also run weekly at Wauchope and Laurieton libraries.
Port Macquarie Library has a Teen study area that has access to HSC resources, Teen fiction and Graphic novels. The outdoor courtyard equipped with seating is popular with School Students with Library free wifi available in this area as well as throughout the library.
Laurieton Library provides a play area with a sandpit, a blackboard and a climbing structure with a slide. The Dress-up rack at Laurieton Library has always been a popular feature with high usage on their Storytime days, held once a week during school term time for 2-5 year olds. Baby Bounce for newborns to 12 month old babies is also held weekly.
Wauchope Library also provides a play area with a blackboard and car play structure. Wauchope Library holds Storytime once a week during school term time for 2-5 year olds, and Baby Bounce for newborns to 12 month old babies is also held weekly.
Each Branch of the Library welcomes families to spend time in our Children’s areas where comfy furniture is provided for parent and child story times, sharing a jigsaw puzzle or just quiet family time.
Our Libraries are warm in Winter and cool in Summer to be comfortable family spaces to spend time with your child.
