All library branches will be closed for the Public Holiday on Monday 7th October

Reading and Borrowing

You will find a wide range of resources for children and teens of all ages, from picture books to chapter books, stories on CD to movies on DVD, magazines, multimedia packs, and information books. Children are welcome to join the library themselves as long as a parent/grandparent is happy to be their Guarantor. This will start them on their own library journey and library services will support them all the way through to their senior years of schooling, and beyond!

Sharing stories and joining in with our library activities will help your child be prepared for starting school.  The NSW Department of Education  offers an array of advice via the A-Z Parents Guide.

Premier’s Reading Challenge

The Premier’s Reading Challenge runs every year from February to September and is available for all NSW students in Kindergarten to Year 9, in government, independent, Catholic and home schools.

The Challenge aims to encourage in students a love of reading for leisure and pleasure, and to enable students to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.

Magpies

The Library keeps copies of the wonderful magazine, ‘Magpies’. It has reviews and information on new books plus articles on authors, different genres in children’s literature and keeps us up to date on what is being published in Australia and New Zealand.
A list of ‘Series for Readers in Primary School’  will give you an idea of characters, setting, target audience and narrative frame for each of the popular series.
