Please join Leanne for a chat with J L Whitton at our Port Macquarie Library on Wednesday 7th August at 2.30pm.
J.L. Whitton is an author, artists, and business owner living on the East Coast of Australia. He enjoys the laid back coastal lifestyle. In his spare time he likes all things creative like painting, playing the guitar, and writing stories and poems. He is passionate about art, music, and antiques. His inspiration behind The Pendulum was observing recent events in Australia and around the world. He felt compelled to address them by writing a book.
THE PENDULUM
The Pendulum is a gritty crime thriller with legal and political intrigue after a new country is formed on the Australian continent.
Global turmoil marks the start of the twenty-first century. A group of renegades fight to break free from the Australian federation. After a brutal conflict, they form the United Republic of the Southern Continent (U.R.S.C.). This new nation entices people to flee the chaos in their own countries and embrace a new start in paradise.
Against this backdrop, we meet Ally Rose, a French immigrant and “Facilitator” (freelance mercenary). She and her associate Portia D’Amico, a corrupt detective, are unwittingly caught in a far-reaching conspiracy that forces them to consider every action and decision.
As the conspiracy unravels, Ally and “Osiris,” a fellow Facilitator become involved in a plot to overthrow the increasingly tyrannical Rico dictatorship. If caught, they face the dictator’s wrath and a legal battle. This could have devastating consequences not only for them but for the very future of the United Republic.
