You are invited for a cuppa and a chat onĀ Tuesday 21st March at 2.30pm at our Port Macquarie library with the contributors of Painting Stories; a collaboration of authors and artists.
Painting Stories is a composite relationship between the Laurieton Residential Resort Art Group, Kew and Kylie’s Art Studio, Laurieton who share their paintings and Port Macquarie branch of the Fellowship of Australian Writers NSW Inc. who were inspired by them and wrote accordingly.
‘Living in this beautiful Hastings Council coast area with many creative people, it was not difficult to find Artists to offer paintings for this publication.Ā We are grateful for the assistance of Ann Keast, who was Convenor at the time, of the Art Group at Laurieton Residential Resort, Kew.
Ann put forward the ‘painting story’ idea to me for my Port Macquarie writing group, who took up the challenge.
The writers selected paintings from heather Wright, Ian Fowler and Ann Keast.
To add to the wonderful paintings, Angela Stringer, who is a student at Kylie’s Art Studio Laurieton and lives at Dunbogan, was approached.Ā Angela was very enthusiastic and offered a number of her own paintings to complete the compilation of this book.
The writers thank these Artists for giving them such a wonderful selectin of paintings from which they have created their stories and poems, strongly motivated by the collection of art.
After many weeks of pure enjoyment and pleasure developing this publication I am now trusting it to make its own way in the world and spread lots of colour and pleasure to our readers’. From an idea … Raylene Austin
