Do you want to make a new friend in Mentor, Ohio? Do you want to practice your writing and learn about sending letters? Join up for the USA-Australia Pen Pal Program! This is a fun and safe way for you to write to someone in a different country. You can get to know your pen pal by asking questions and sharing common interests. Be sure not to ask your pen pal for any personal information such as address, email, phone number, or last name. This program is open to kids aged 7-12 years.

Parents:
Please read your child’s letter before they are brought to the library to ensure that they are safe, respectful and appropriate. A waiver will need to be signed in order for your child to participate in the program.

How it will work:
After you sign-up for the program, we will notify you when you are matched up with your new pen pal from the Mentor Public Library in Mentor, Ohio, USA. You will receive their first name and last initial as well as their interests and hobbies. There will be four opportunities to write to your pen pal throughout the year. Return your finished letter to the library before the specified due dates. Be sure to write your pen pal’s first name and last initial on the front of the envelope. The libraries will then mail out all of the letters in a package to the corresponding library. When you receive a reply back, we will contact you to come to the library and get your mail!
