Port Macquarie Library
32 Grant St
Port Macquarie, New South Wales 2444 Australia

Please join author Sarah Martin for an inspiring talk with Leanne at our Port Macquarie Library on Friday 20th November at 11.00am.

Welcome back Sarah!

Sarah Martin is an international award-winning author of her first book Dear Psychosis. It follows her family’s story of complex mental health concerns but most of all, it is a story of recovery, hope and the power of family.

Sarah’s second nonfiction book is called Dear Carer, written with heart, strength and vulnerability. It is a book for those living, loving and caring for a loved one with complex mental health concerns.

Sarah is a perioperative nurse, writer, carer peer worker advocating for those living with complex mental health concerns and a SANE peer ambassador. She is also a regular keynote speaker on mental health and care. When not tackling the stigma and silence around mental ill health, Sarah loves playing golf and making and baking sourdough bread.

DEAR CARER

When someone you love is struggling with their mental health, life can shift in an instant. Suddenly you’re searching for answers you never imagined needing. Trying to hold your world together and at the same time helping someone find their way through the dark.

Sarah sits alongside carers, psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors, nurses, police, paramedics, and clinicians to unravel the topics carers are so often left to navigate alone. She explores emergency care, recovery care and more, and shows in small but powerful ways, how carers can use tools to support and advocate for their loved ones, while still caring for themselves.

Dear Carer, is not just a book. It’s a hand to hold, a breath of reassurance, and a reminder that love, steady, imperfect, or determined, can light even the darkest moments.

Sarah will have copies of Dear Carer and Dear Psychosis available for sale at the event.
