Rob Tickle has a BA (UNE) in archaeology, palaeoanthropology and history along with an Associate Diploma in Local and Applied History (UNE) and a postgraduate certificate in Historical Archaeology (University of Leicester). He has had a lifelong passion for history, but over the past thirty-five years, his main interest has been local history in the Hunter Valley, Hastings Valley and family history. He is a member of the Port Macquarie Historical Society, life member of Muswellbrook Shire Local & Family History Society Inc., and member of the International Golden Keys Society. For a number of years, he worked as a consulting archaeologist and historian in New South Wales and Western Australia.

Walibree to Moripo: 1836 to 2024 This book contains an account detailing the history of four portions of land in the Parish Walibree, County Macquarie which totalled 3699 acres. This land is on the south side of the Hastings River between Hyndmans Creek and Thone River.

While it looks at the changes of ownership and break-up of the property into smaller areas it also looks at the owners. What an interesting collection of humanity. One was the co-editor of the Sydney Gazette, others include a former officer who served in India with the 11th Dragoons, a retired Major from the British army, a dental surgeon appointed by Queen Victoria as surgeon to the Royal Family in Scotland, an illiterate Scot, Jewish tailor from Poland – the list goes on.

All of these people contributed to the development of the Walibree – Moripo area and Port Macquarie and the Hastings Valley. Some early owners were quite flamboyant and are probably worthy of a book in their own right, others worked quietly developing the property and unfortunately are often not listed in the records of their period.
