Please join local poet Faye Owen at our Port Macquarie Library for a book launch and chat with Leanne on Wednesday 6th December at 2.30pm.
Faye was born in 1939 in Penrith NSW. She grew up loving poetry and music, learning the violin, and later developed an interest in painting and drawing. She always loved enjoying the intricacies of nature. She married in 1961, has two children and two grand-children, and recently, her first great-grand-child.
Over the years Faye has won a number of prizes and has had many poems published in anthologies of the best work from competitions.
She was commissioned to write for Jacaranda Press Primary English Projects books, and to compose twelve poems to accompany watercolour paintings in a large corporate calendar. Faye co-ordinated a major Literature Competition for the International Year of Peace in 1986, and had her own art gallery for several years.
She is still playing her beloved violin in her local Baptist church on the mid north coast of NSW where she now lives, and continuing to write poems and stories for both children and adults.
