Far from the harsh and joyless images we often associate with convicts, music and dance were vital expressions of identity, resilience, and community in the early colony. Even in the remote settlement of Port Macquarie (1821–1832), these cultural traditions offered comfort and connection in a strange new land.

As part of Convict Culture Week, this special concert will feature authentic convict-era performances that transport you back in time and celebrate the spirit and endurance of those who helped shape our history.
