Contemplative Meditation

Tuesday November 5, 9:30 am – 11:00 am
Port Macquarie Library
32 Grant St
Port Macquarie, New South Wales 2444 Australia

Join Lucy at Port Macquarie Library on Tuesday November 5th at 9.30am for Contemplative Meditation

Contemplative Meditation takes many forms. Lucy’s format is an adaptation of the ancient practice of Lectio Divina, which includes “art” as part of the practice, as developed  by Dr. Tina Bailey in 2010.

  • Lucy Mitchell is mother of 3, a gypsy at heart, and an explorer and practitioner of evolving consciousness.  She is a trained anthropologist, teacher of meditation and breathwork, and facilitator of authentic relating experiences and ceremonies.  Lucy has studied extensively and brings a range of methods and practices for exploring and developing personal and group consciousness.  New to Port Macquarie, Lucy is offering introductory sessions to anyone who would like to experience contemplative meditation (CM) or authentic relating (AR). Future sessions will build on these, and other offerings may include introductions to breath, tantra, de-armouring and kindfulness.  Lets evolve together!

The process involves listening, reflection, brief sharing (optional) and silence, following the four stages of Lectio Divina ( Lectio (“reading”, Meditatio (“meditation”), Oratio ( “prayer”), Contemplatio ( “Contemplation”) . With a guide for each stage, we sit quietly in a playful and unstructured exploration of the words, images or ideas that emerge during each of the stages, using pencil, paint, pastels or simply pens.  The focus is on process and not on an end result, freeing the mind to imagine without fear of judgement, and typically leaving a feeling of peaceful or settled appreciation of the present moment.  There is a spiritual element to this practices which is central and universal, and is not religious. We practice using our whole selves to listen and receive wisdom through the contemplative practice.

If you can bring pencils, watercolour paints, pastels or materials for your use, we will provide paper and some materials to share with anyone who can’t bring anything or forgets! No prior experience needed!
