Leanne will be chatting to them about their 2026 releases as well as all things crime writing. So exciting to have writer’s festival alumni in our library.

JP Pomare’s new book The Gambler (out 24 Feb 2026) follows PI Vince Reid, who is offered a case he can’t refuse: Why did a respected local woman open fire at a political rally, killing a promising young university graduate? This is the start of JP’s first-ever series and his profile is on the rise – his second TV adaptation, Watching You, just released on Stan, with an adaptation of 17 Years Later also in the works. He truly is your favourite crime author’s favourite crime author, with praise for his books from the likes of Dervla McTiernan, Ian Rankin, Michael Robotham, Benjamin Stevenson and more.

In Candice Fox’s upcoming novel Redbelly Crossing (out 31 March 2026), two cop brothers hunt a killer while trying to outrun their shared past… Candice Fox is the author of eleven crime novels and has co-written seven New York Times bestsellers with James Patterson. Candice’s novels Crimson Lake and Redemption Point were adapted into a major ABC TV series called Troppo. A meticulous researcher, Candice has interviewed a serial killer on Death Row, been to prison three times (for work purposes) and while on honeymoon in the US took a road trip to famous crime scenes looking for clues.
