Please join us for a presentation with award winning author Anne Freeman at our Port Macquarie Library on Wednesday 7th October at 11.00am.
Anne will discuss her acclaimed new novel, The Time After Now, an Own Voices portrayal of disability that explores the ripple effects of decisions made in our youth.
Drawing on her own lived experience of type 1 diabetes, she will speak about transforming personal history into fiction, the importance of authentic representation, and why readers are increasingly seeking stories told by those with lived experience. The conversation will also explore the long shadow of youth, how choices made decades earlier continue to shape our lives, the power and permanence of digital images, and the novel’s central theme of radical self-acceptance.
Anne Freeman is the author of three women’s fiction novels. Her novels and short stories have been recognised in numerous Australian and international literary competitions, including the Romance Writers of Australia Valerie Parv Award, the Queensland Writers Centre Adaptable Program, the Somerset Book Awards and the Grindstone Literary International Novel Prize.
