Welcome to Genwire

The Genwire website has been created through a partnership between the Mid North Coast Regional Council for Social Development and Arts Mid North Coast. The website consists of two youth related platforms, Genwire Infohub and Genwire Artspace.

Genwire Infohub is managed by the Mid North Coast Regional Council for Social Development and is an information hub for youth services and young people living on the Mid North Coast of NSW. You can use Genwire Infohub to share and search for information about a range of youth topics, youth organisations, youth services/programs, youth helplines, weblinks and events.

Genwire Artspace is managed by Arts Mid North Coast and is an online portal for young people of the Mid North Coast to create and share their art through online project galleries. druginfo@your library

druginfo@your library provides excellent up-to-date and reliable free information for young and old about alcohol and drugs.  This website (and associated written materials at your library) is compiled and monitored jointly by the State Library of NSW and NSW Health.

The new edition of a 'Quick Guide to Alcohol and Drugs' is  available from the library or online.

Drug Info now has a Facebook presence - http://www.facebook.com/druginfoatyourlibrary

Each year there are lots of activities during Drug Action Week.

Take a look at the new Drug Info pinboard.....try the mocktail recipes!

Another great website is Tune In Not Out

So.....what is Tune In Not Out?

www.tuneinnotout.com, or TINO is your one-stop shop for information on a wide range of topics for navigating life’s challenges, from mental health, relationships, exam stress to sexual health and more.

Each topic page features videos, stories, music playlists and factsheets created by services and young people from across Australia brought together in one central location.  You can even submit your own story and playlist for other young people to check out.

To explore TINO, just select a topic you would like info on, and then explore all that page has to offer. You might watch a few videos, check out some factsheets, browse the stories by other young people and even select some tunes to listen to.

Tune In Not Out is a project of the Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation Inc.

The World of Libguides

Some school libraries have Libguides and librarians have very generously shared all their comprehensive research.  The aim of the Libguides is to help you find supplementary information on HSC topics.  The types of suggested  information includes books, websites and YouTube clips.  Your library is a 'gateway to information' and Libguides certainly prove this.

Thank you, in particular, to staff at The Illawarra Grammar School who have shared their 'libguides'.............take a look!    Some of these suggestions may be helpful for you.

Great Resources For PDHPE Students

A new and improved page for Students and Teachers, with specific resources for PDHPE (Personal, Development, Health and PE) students, is now available on the drug info @ your library website.

This information is particularly relevant for Students in Years 11 and 12 and your mandatory personal development and health education course called Crossroads - researching a particular drug or issue relating to drug and alcohol use.

Information on the website and in the public library collections can be used to assist you with your research. The best resource for you is A Quick Guide to Drugs and Alcohol - the book that the NSW State Library published with NSW Health - which is in all public libraries and was sent to every high school.

There are also two new research guides in the same format as other State Library guides such as the LIAC Crime Library. One is a guide for PDHPE students researching drug and alcohol information and issues and is aligned to the curriculum for Years 7-10. The other guide is a guide to finding drug and alcohol use statistics (good for students looking to find out how many high school kids drink or smoke or take illicit drugs) and policies and reports.

Students undertaking a Personal Interest Project around drug/alcohol or youth issues may also find the information useful for your research if they are looking at peer pressure, young people and drugs/drinking, body image etc.

The new student pages are located at: http://www.druginfo.sl.nsw.gov.au/students_teachers/index.html

Thank you Andrea Curr and Team at the State Library of NSW!
